Parents supporting Parents

Often times parents need the support of other parents when advocating for their child's education.  P.I.E members are available to help you speak up for your child.  Our united voices can bring positive changes.

    Parents as Advocates

Being your child's advocate is one of the most important things you can do to ensure their future is bright.  Educate yourself about how the public school system operates.  Read the school Discipline  policies, handbooks, course descriptions, etc.  Check out the Education Accountability Act of 1988.  You can get to it from this link:

    http://www.sceoc.com/

If you child did not past the PACT test you need to be informed and know about your child's Academic Plan.

The Academic Plans for Students is required by the Education Accountability Act (EAA) the link above.  The school district must notify you about your child's plan.  If your child did not pass the PACT test and you don't know what the plan is you need to contact the school right away.  That plan will make the difference between whether your child is retained or not.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse!  Don't depend on others to tell you.  Read it for yourself!
